Giving

Why does the streamlet laugh and sing
As it tumbles on its way?
Why does it hunt the lowest place
To go without delay?

Why does the fire crackle and glow
And make such happy sounds?
Why does it freely give its warmth
To everyone around?

Why do the trembling leaves rejoice
When stirred by a gentle breeze?
Why do they work so hard to give
Mere drops to the strong, tall trees?

Oh listen to the song they sing,
The theme that all creation rings,
"It's happiness to give!"
