Lessons from Providence
"God speaks to us through His providential workings. . . . In our circumstances and surroundings, in the changes daily taking place around us, we may find precious lessons if our hearts are but open to discern them." Steps to Christ, pg. 87.
Throughout my whole life I have been privileged to watch such a specific unfolding of God's plan for our family that boggles my mind whenever I think about it. The fact that God has a specific plan for each family, each person, deepens its conviction on my mind with each passing year—and especially with these last several months! We have seen puzzle pieces flying into place that for years had us wondering why they were there. Of course, each piece has more than one side to it, and only in eternity will we see the completed picture. But the unmistakable evidences of God's hand leading in Matthew & Rachel's lives have inspired many a praise from our family. If you haven't read their story yet, please do!
It is exciting to see God continue His leading in my sister's life so specifically, after seeing His hand directing our family as a whole for years. It reminds me that "each has his place in the eternal plan of heaven. Each is to work in co-operation with Christ for the salvation of souls. Not more surely is the place prepared for us in the heavenly mansions than is the special place designated on earth where we are to work for God." Christ's Object Lessons, pg. 326. Remember that God has a specific plan for your life. Just ask Him to reveal it to you, and He will in His time. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5, 6. Life in His service is never boring!
"The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad" Psalm 126:3.
